Nadia's Initiative ist tief besorgt über die jüngsten Abschiebungen von Jesiden aus Deutschland. Die Bundesregierung hat den 2014 vom IS durchgeführten Genozid an den Jesiden im Irak offiziell anerkannt. Dass jetzt ihre Entscheidung erfolgt, Flüchtlinge und Asylsuchende abzuschieben, ist daher besonders erschütternd. Wir fordern die deutsche Regierung auf, die Abschiebung von Jesiden unverzüglich zu stoppen und denjenigen, die im Land Zuflucht suchen, Asyl zu gewähren.

Statement on the prosecution of ISIS members following the UN Security Council vote on UNITAD

On 15 September 2023, at the request of the Government of Iraq, the UN Security Council took a step backwards in the pursuit for justice for ISIS by adopting resolution 2697 (2023). The resolution ends the mandate of United Nations Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da'esh/ISIL (UNITAD) in one year, on 17 September 2024. It also requests a report from the UN Secretary-General in January and a road-map for termination from UNITAD in March 2024.

German ISIS member sentenced to an extended prison term for crimes against humanity against Yazidis following appeal decision

On August 29, 2023, the Higher Regional Court of Munich affirmed the conviction of ISIS member ‘Jennifer W.’ and increased her sentence from 10 to 14 years imprisonment. The judges highlighted that the defendant neglected the Yazidi victims' human rights because of their religious beliefs and that in enslaving them she intentionally furthered ISIS’ policy of destroying the Yazidi religion – aggravating factors that have not been considered by the first instance court when deciding on the sentence.
