Yazidi Girl Details Impact of Nadia's Initiative Clean Water Project on Livelihoods

Marwa had always wondered what her parents' home in Sinjar, Iraq looks like. She grew up in a camp after her family was displaced by ISIS’ genocide. Marwa says, “My wish then was to see the place they called home.”

When her family finally returned to Sinjar, it was not quite as Marwa had dreamed: “We were home to start a normal life like any human being, but we found the lack of basic services prevented us from enjoying the life in our home town.”

Lack of potable water and WASH facilities in the region impacts so many children like Marwa and prevents them from growing up in a healthy and secure environment. To address the issue, Nadia’s Initiative and UAE Aid are restoring water and sanitation in Marwa’s village and 21 others.

“Our happiness doubled and there were smiles on our faces when the water was pumped and it reached us. It also contributed to the return of dozens of families to their villages. Thank you, Nadia for your support.”
