Nadia Murad honored with “Beloved Community Coretta Scott King Soul of the Nation” award from The King Center

Nadia’s Initiative is proud to share that our founder and President, Nadia Murad, recently received the 2025 “Beloved Community Coretta Scott King Soul of the Nation” Award. Presented by The King Center, this award celebrates Nadia’s extraordinary contributions to advancing justice and embodying the compassion, integrity, and leadership exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In receiving this award, Nadia stands alongside extraordinary women who have answered Mrs. Coretta Scott King’s enduring call to action: ‘Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul.’”

The award was presented during the annual Beloved Community Awards, a highlight of the King Center’s week-long celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Nadia’s relentless advocacy on behalf of survivors of conflict-related sexual violence and her leadership in promoting locally-led, sustainable development for communities affected by crisis have left a lasting impact on the pursuit of justice and equality worldwide.

Reflecting on this recognition, Nadia shared, “Dr. King’s legacy serves as a guiding light for all of us who are committed to justice, dignity, and equality.”
