Nadia's Initiative is Rehabilitating Zorava High School in Sinjar
Conflict-affected countries see 20% less enrollment in secondary education. According to the UNDP, enrollment for girls is even lower. UNESCO reports that doubling the percentage of youth with access to secondary education can halve the risk of conflict. Education is essential to recovering from conflict and preventing future violence.
Nadia’s Initiative is striving to provide Yazidi youth returning from genocide and displacement with quality, secondary education. Our new project - rehabilitating and furnishing Zorava High School - is well underway, and will serve hundreds of students when it is safe to reopen.
This project is implemented by Zorava Youth Center and is funded by the Austrian Development Agency with funds of Austrian Development Cooperation.
