Nadia's Initiative Builds New House for Yazidi Survivors of ISIS Captivity
Amsha Musa Baker and her daughter are from Dohla Village in Sinjar, Iraq. Amsha had lost her husband and son before ISIS’s occupation of the area and was struggling to survive and provide for her daughter. After ISIS’s attacks in 2014, Amsha and her daughter were kidnapped and sold into slavery by ISIS militants.
After two years in captivity, Amsha and her daughter were able to flee and return home. They faced ongoing difficulties getting food and seeking adequate shelter, as their home was made of mud and exposed to the elements.
Nadia’s Initiative built these survivors a new home and provided them with household items where they can live in dignity and safety.
