Nadia's Initiative and USAID Deliver Oxygen Concentrators to Health Centers in Sinjar
By the end of 2020, Iraq had 564,200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 that resulted in 12,432 deaths. In the Northwest region of Sinjar, years of conflict and violence at the hands of ISIS effectively dismantled the healthcare system and left residents returning from captivity and displacement without protection from the virus.
Nadia’s Initiative is responding to the pandemic and long-term healthcare needs by restoring healthcare centers in the region and equipping them to better treat COVID cases. In a recent installment, we supplied 17 health centers with 52 oxygen concentrators. We hope that with appropriate COVID care secured, the local community will be able to breathe a little easier.
This project is funded and supported by USAID.
