Nadia Murad featured as one of the BBC's 100 Women of 2024

Nadia’s Initiative is proud to share that Nadia has been named one of BBC’s 100 Women for 2024, a list celebrating inspiring women who have shown extraordinary resilience in the face of global challenges. This year’s list puts a spotlight on women around the world who are driving change in the face of deadly conflicts and humanitarian crises, polarizing societal shifts, and the global climate crisis. Nadia’s feature highlights her decade-long fight for justice and accountability following the Yazidi genocide and her relentless advocacy for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) worldwide.

Through her work at NI and her global advocacy, she has championed community-driven rebuilding in the aftermath of crises, justice and comprehensive support for survivors, and accountability for perpetrators of genocide, CRSV, and other mass atrocities. Her recognition on this year’s list reflects not only her personal resilience but also her ability to inspire others to take action. As Nadia notes in the piece, “We must wield ‘weapons of the spirit’ to fight for equality and justice: truth, hope, and compassion.”

On December 14th, an in-depth conversation with Nadia will air on BBC News. You can watch the interview on the BBC’s website here.
