A Year in Review - Nadia's Initiative's 2021 WASH Projects
Clean water and sanitation are pressing issues for Yazidis returning to their homeland in Sinjar, Iraq, where ISIS systematically destroyed this life-supporting infrastructure. Without access to safe water, residents of Sinjar have struggled to perform critical tasks, such as handwashing, cooking, and farming.
As of 2021, Nadia’s Initiative has restored the WASH infrastructure in 22 villages in North and South Sinjar. We have also restored WASH and disability access in 17 schools and provided hygiene trainings in 35 schools. Delivering community inclusive WASH infrastructure in the region ensures sustainable management of the resources provided, enabling future generations to grow up in a healthy environment.
